Gymnasium Finkenwerder is one of the schools selected to take part in the pilot phase of the new IT curriculum. A core topic of the curriculum will be \"Communication and computer networks\", in which around 60 pupils in year nine will learn the basics of modern network technology.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
While the original plan was to teach this content exclusively using simulation software, we were given the opportunity to significantly enrich the lessons with a practical approach: We are donating 14 decommissioned but fully functional servers to the school. This hardware donation enables the students not only to acquire theoretical knowledge, but also to gain practical experience - from the physical construction of a network to the installation of operating systems and the configuration of their own web servers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
This initiative combines several positive aspects: Firstly, we support the practical training of young people in the IT sector, and secondly, we give the hardware a second meaningful life. The students are given the opportunity to learn and experiment on real hardware - an experience that cannot be replaced by any simulation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
