25th company anniversary: A thank you to all guests and customers

25 years ScaleUp
On September 29 ScaleUp celebrated its 25th anniversary with many colleagues, friends, customers and suppliers. With this event we wanted to thank everyone who has supported us over the years.

A festive venue in Hamburg's HafenCity

The anniversary celebrations took place in the former main customs office in Hamburg's beautiful HafenCity. Over a hundred guests came to toast together, celebrate and also shake a leg. A selection of pictures taken by our photographer Matthias Gottwald gives you an impression of the evening.

A look back at 25 years of company history

In his acceptance speech, Christoph Streit, CEO and co-founder of ScaleUp, took us on a journey through time. He let the time of the foundation and establishment of ScaleUp, at that time still under the name "internet4YOU", pass in review. A time in which new customers were still reached with thousands of info letters instead of e-mails and LinkedIn. Also guests were customers of the second hour, for whom this form of advertising must have obviously worked, Mr. Tablack and Dr. Aspiazu. Dr. Aspiazu told a humorous anecdote about his first visit to the very first internet4YOU data center, which he made together with a customer. The fact that this data center was located in the middle of a residential area in Sodentwiete caused astonished faces and certainly a smile or two. These memories of the beginnings made it clear to all of us how far we have come since then.

Inspiration from the "Pacific Floaters

One of the highlights of the evening was the inspiring presentation of the "Pacific Floaters", by Catharina and Wolfgang. The two told in a captivating way about their recent Pacific crossing in a two-man rowing boat. They also undertook this adventure to encourage all of us to realize dreams despite all risks and to accept challenges. Afterwards, they answered numerous questions from Julia and the audience.

Together for a Good thing

However, the company anniversary was not only an opportunity to celebrate, but also to do good. A raffle supported by Pacific Floaters was a great success with over 200 tickets sold. More than €1,100 was raised for the non-profit "Wings for Life" foundation, which is dedicated to spinal cord research and the search for a cure for paraplegia. In addition, a 5-digit part of the proceeds from the already sold rowing boat "Frida" will be donated to this important foundation.

We were touched by the generous support and warm atmosphere that characterized this anniversary event. Our thanks go to everyone who was there on this special day and helped make our 25th anniversary an unforgettable event.

In our picture gallery we have captured a few impressions and beautiful moments of the evening:

Where is Open Compute headed? Impressions from OCP Summit 2022

This year, the annual global Open Compute Project Summit took place in San José (CA) from October 18-20. We were there ourselves and want to share some of our impressions here.

Special features of OpenCompute Servers - How OCP hardware differs from classic hardware.

After our introduction to OpenCompute hardware, in this post of our OCP series we want to go into a bit more detail about the design of OpenCompute hardware, specifically the server design and how it differs from classic hardware.

Open Compute Hardware Makes Data Centers Fit for Green IT

Open Compute Hardware (OpenSource Hardware) has enormous potential to sustainably improve resource efficiency in data centers. What is the Open Compute Project (OCP)?

Autoscaling in Kubernetes

One of the great promises of using Kubernetes is the ability to scale infrastructure dynamically, based on user requirements. However, by default, Kubernetes does not automatically add or remove instances. To do this, the Kubernetes...
