Experience the future of OCP hardware at ScaleUp's OCP Experience Center in Nuremberg
The OCP Experience Center Nuremberg is the first permanent showcase location in Germany to combine open hardware standards with live demonstrations of liquid cooling technologies. It is the only facility of its kind in the DACH region. Companies can experience and directly compare different immersion cooling systems in real operation. Visit us and experience the latest cooling technology for data centers!
Open hardware up close
OCP Experience Center
Open hardware. Real applications. At our OCP Experience Center in Nuremberg-Fürth, we make Open Compute Project hardware tangible. Here you can not only view modern data center infrastructure, but also test and evaluate it in a real production environment. From Open Rack and OCP Sled Server to Open Networking with SONiC - experience the benefits of open standards in practice.
Trendsetting technologies
The OCP Experience Center presents the latest technologies and developments in Open Compute hardware and storage solutions.
- Open Rack (ORV2 and ORV3)
- OCP Powershelves
- OCP Sled Servers (ORV2 / ORV3)
- Open Networking with SONiC
- Remanufactured OCP Servers (Compute, Storage, Networking)
Live demonstrations & POC tests
We offer tests and trials for the OCP Experience Center and the Liquid Cooling Lab as part of a proof of concept. All hardware and setups can be tested individually for a defined period as part of a POC.
Lectures & Workshops
The center regularly hosts lectures and workshops by Experts on topics such as efficiency, sustainability and innovation in the technology sector.
Networking platform
The Experience Center provides a platform for knowledge sharing and networking between leading technology providers, open tech enthusiasts and scientists to drive transparent standards and data center efficiency.
State-of-the-art liquid cooling
Liquid Cooling Lab
Sustainable cooling. Measurably more efficient. Our Liquid Cooling Lab is the first place in Germany where you can experience modern liquid cooling technologies in combination with open hardware. In a real data center environment, we demonstrate and test various liquid cooling approaches - from immersion cooling to direct liquid cooling. Ideal for your evaluation and proof-of-concept tests.
What you can see and test with us:
Immersion Cooling Tank
With immersion cooling, servers are completely immersed in a non-conductive cooling liquid. This method enables particularly efficient heat dissipation directly from all components and significantly reduces the energy required for cooling.
Direct Liquid Cooling
With Direct Liquid Cooling, the coolant is fed directly to the heat sources (CPUs, GPUs) via pipes and cold plates. This targeted cooling is significantly more efficient than conventional air cooling and enables higher power densities, e.g. for HPC or AI systems.
Heat Rejection
To ensure a closed cooling circuit, the heat must be dissipated efficiently. Heat rejection refers to the technical removal or dissipation of heat from the cooling circuit.
Waste heat recovery
The heat extracted from the data center can be put to good use, for example for heating buildings, in district heating networks or in industrial processes. The liquid cooling systems shown in the laboratory deliver temperatures that are particularly suitable for the further use of waste heat.

OCP Advantages
Basically, an OCP server resembles a standard 19" server, since the same components such as CPU, memory, network cards, etc. are installed. However, they are placed more compactly, have more efficient cooling and a central power supply. The larger fans run slower and therefore more economically. The cooling air is better distributed and directed to the CPU due to the smaller case. This enables power savings of up to 20 percent. OCP servers can also be installed in a standard 19-inch rack completely without tools and with mounting kits.
Features
- cost-saving
- up to 20 % low power consumption
- Open Source
- 19" rack compatible
- modular & flexibly expandable
- tool-free assembly
- easier to recycle
- reduced housing directs cool air to the CPU
