Expansion of the Berlin Britz data center has begun (Update)

Update: The expansion is completed

The ScaleUp team has started the expansion of the data center in Berlin Britz. As part of the capacity expansion, a second colocation suite is currently being built out on the 1st floor. This new space will offer both full colocation racks and half real split colocation racks with 20 height units. The space on the 1st floor is a separate fire section in the building, which means that in the future it will also be possible to implement setups distributed across separate fire sections. The two areas are connected with fiber optics, which can also be provided directly to customers.

After the delivery of the colocation racks, they are first set up on the surface and then connected accordingly. Power connections are already available in the raised floor, to which the power strips in the racks are then connected. Each colocation rack is connected redundantly (A+B supply) to two independent power distribution units (PDUs).

The network cabling between the individual racks is still being created by the Berlin ScaleUp team. Pre-cabling to the space on the first floor of the data center is already switched.

Open Compute Hardware (OpenSource Hardware) has enormous potential to sustainably improve resource efficiency in data centers. What is the Open Compute Project (OCP)?

Autoscaling in Kubernetes

One of the great promises of using Kubernetes is the ability to scale infrastructure dynamically, based on user requirements. However, by default, Kubernetes does not automatically add or remove instances. To do this, the Kubernetes...
